Welcome to Murmuration Relational Therapy

You’ll find the office space nestled in the House of Now at 536 5th Street in Courtenay. Please have a seat in the waiting room when you arrive, and I’ll come get you when it’s time to begin.

Payment is required prior to the commencement of each session. I accept credit card payments through Jane, as well as cash or e-transfers.

At this time, I do not offer direct billing. A receipt will be provided with the information required for reimbursement with your insurance provider, including my registration number with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#23059). Please check with your provider beforehand to ensure you have coverage with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

If you are feeling unwell and have an upcoming session, please let me know as soon as possible (at least 24 hours beforehand) so that you don’t incur a late cancellation fee. The best way to reach me is through email: lisa@murmurationtherapy.com

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor offering relationship and trauma therapy (EFT, EMDR) for people who are finding their way through ongoing conflict and the aftermath of difficult experiences. I welcome people living with trauma in its many forms — whether it comes from childhood, relationships, systems of oppression, loss, rupture, or experiences that have left you feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, your relationships, or your sense of possibility.

I see therapy as a place where we can gently revisit what has been learned through experience and create the conditions for something new. Through memory reconsolidation, embodied awareness, and attunement, we can begin to loosen the grip of the past — not by erasing what happened, but by supporting your system to recognize that the past is no longer present.

I particularly welcome our community leaders (including seniors and Elders), as well as future and emerging leaders (including youth and young adults) into this practice. I believe our capacity to participate in collective life is intimately connected to our capacity to be in relationship with ourselves and one another. Leadership can be lonely. Caring for a community can be exhausting. Growing into who you are can be disorienting. Growing older can ask us to reconsider who we have been and who we are becoming.

You do not have to become less sensitive, less passionate, or less affected by the world in order to be well.

Instead, perhaps the process of healing can help you become more alive to it all — able to feel without being overwhelmed, to breathe without bracing, to remain connected without losing yourself, and to lead without abandoning your humanity.

My approach draws from relational, systemic, somatic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed therapies. I value accountability and play as equally important healing agents, and I hold reverence for the wisdom held within each person, their histories, and their communities.

I am also increasingly interested in our relationship with land and place — and in what has been lost through colonization, urbanization, and the increasing separation of human life from the living world. For many of us, reconnecting with place can be part of remembering something older than our individual stories: that we belong somewhere, that we are not separate, and that healing is not solely an individual undertaking.

Murmuration is the name for the extraordinary movement of a flock of starlings across the sky. They are responsive to one another, constantly adapting to create awe-inspiring poetry in motion. Our work together is aimed at cultivating a similar fluid responsiveness, transforming survival responses and restoring dynamic equilibrium. Not becoming a better, more perfected individual in isolation, but finding our way back into relationship — with ourselves, with others, with community, and with the world around us.

Here, therapy is a living, breathing practice of connection.

Welcome. I am so glad you are here.
